Welcome to Galloway Country Style

Galloway Country Style opened its doors during Easter 1992. Our building started its life in 1787 as a tannery, when Gatehouse was on the threshold of its industrial period. In 1989 most of the tannery, by then a disused garage, was completely demolished and rebuilt to form the building which now stands today. The tanner's cottage was taken in during 1994 and the well known kilt making firm of J McDavid & Son was incorporated into Galloway Country Style, where visitors are welcome to watch the resident kilt makers at work and view our display boards, which tell the story of kilts and how to make them. To enhance your made-to-measure kilt, we also have a full range of kilt accessories to choose from.
